Van Subaru Previews the New Outback

The 2016 Subaru Outback has been one of the most popular crossovers for years. Last year, the Outback got a terrific new redesign that gave the car more interior passenger and cargo space, higher-end interior materials and increased fuel efficiency. This model year, the 2016 Outback is adding a few fun tech features that round out the car's upgrades from 2015.

Coming in four trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited, the 2016 Subaru Outback in Kansas City sports a host of wonderful standard features that weekend warrior families are sure to love. Looking first at the base 2.5i trim, shoppers will find 17-inch wheels, all-season tires, several cargo storage areas, halogen headlights, reclining rear seats, a silver-metallic interior trim and a 6.2-inch touchscreen with STARLINK. The 2.5i Premium trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, STARLINK's safety and navigation systems, a 7-inch touchscreen, foglights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and heated front seats.

Our 2016 Subaru Outback review really likes the 2.5i Limited trim, which adds great luxury and convenience features to the crossover, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-trimmed upholstery, matte woodgrain-patterned accents, a power liftgate and a Harmon Kardon sound system. The top-tier Outback 3.6R Limited sports most of the 2.5i Limited's features, but adds a high-powered engine to its powertrain.

Speaking of engines, the Outback is powered by two engine options: a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder on the bottom three trims and a 3.6-liter DOHC six-cylinder on the top trim. The 2.5-liter four rates at a terrific 175 horsepower, while the 3.6-liter six-cylinder rates at a truly impressive 256 horsepower. Both engines are paired with a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with a six-speed manual mode and paddle shifters.

Safety features on the 2016 Subaru Outback in Kansas City include the automaker's famous symmetrical all-wheel drive system, four-wheel antilock brakes, vehicle dynamics control, brake assist, traction control, daytime running lights and a tire pressure monitoring system.
