What's New for the 2018 Subaru BRZ?
Combining the sensibility and the simple design of a traditional roadster with the modern and innovative Subaru technologies, the Subaru BRZ was the perfect performance car without being excessive or expensive. The BRZ formula hasn't changed over the last half-decade, but Subaru has added a few new toys to this fun vehicle over time. This year's new feature is the BRZ tS - a model that has been optimized by Subaru's performance STI division. Other improvements include a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support on the Limited and tS models, giving the BRZ a little more comfort and convenience features.

Subaru BRZ Features and Trims
In the tradition of the performance-oriented roadsters, the specifications and options sheet for the Subaru BRZ is rather simple. However, choosing a BRZ model is relatively simple; there are only three models to choose from, and only a few optional packages beyond the standard features.
The BRZ Premium is the base model of the roadster. It comes with a fairly standard set of features, including a rearview camera, Bluetooth, HD and satellite radio support, and a sporty six-speed manual transmission. The only optional package available on this model is the Performance package, that adds stiffer shocks and stronger brakes.
The BRZ Limited is the upgraded version of the car that makes a few more concessions to comfort than the performance-focused Premium. Leather seating, heated seats and dual-zone climate control are standard, as well as the upgraded 7-inch infotainment system. This is also the only BRZ model that is available with an automatic transmission, with an optional package replacing the standard six-speed transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters. The Performance package from the Premium is also available on this model.
New this year, the BRZ tS is aimed at the most enthusiastic of performance fans, and has only a limited run. If you manage to secure one of those rare models, you will be treated to exclusive 18-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes, as well as unique interior and exterior styling improvements.
Engine and Performance
At just 205 horsepower, the Subaru BRZ may seem like a fast car, but not necessarily a high-performance one. The 2.0-liter horizontally opposed engine powering the car is based on the unique technology developed by Subaru that gives it a very low center of gravity and excellent agility. Combined with the car's expertly designed body and a tightly tuned suspension, it easily flows around curves without slowing down or missing a beat. Driving the 2018 Subaru BRZ is an experience like no other.
2018 BRZ Safety Features
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which puts new cars through a series of difficult crash tests, gives the 2018 BRZ a nearly perfect report card, with only one test result falling just below the top category. Combined with the car's natural agility and excellent visibility gives you plenty of peace of mind whether you are taking it on your morning commute or a joyride through the countryside.
