Subaru is a proud supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and recently got to participate in making a child’s dream come true through the organization’s wish-granting program. A boy from Utah named Derek, who was diagnosed with liver failure, was attending Subaru’s WinterFest event with his family when he noticed clues that were specially designed for him.
Those clues led to a big announcement that Subaru is going to make Derek’s dream of going to Alaska come true! An adventurist at heart, Derek has always dreamed of salmon fishing and seeing the beautiful glaciers in Alaska with his loved ones, and now he’ll finally get to go on what is sure to be a memorable and fulfilling trip to “The Last Frontier” state.
Before the big Make-A-Wish announcement, Derek and his family enjoyed a weekend at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort courtesy of Subaru. The family got to enjoy the resort free of charge and enjoyed activities like private ski lessons.
Regarding Subaru’s involvement in getting to grant Derek’s wish, promotions and sponsorship manager Tim Tagye said, “It was really special to be a part of revealing his wish in such an exciting way at the Subaru WinterFest event. We look forward to continuing to support the outstanding Make-A-Wish organization which brings hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions, in the years to come.”
Subaru of America has supported the Make-A-Wish for the past four years, donating over $4.5 million to the foundation and granting more than 610 wishes.
