Professional stunt driver and former world record holder Alastair Moffatt recently set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Tightest 360° spin’ using none other than the Subaru BRZ. All the action went down at this year’s Autosport International Show in Birmingham, UK, during mid-January.
Getting the Subaru BRZ to complete a 360-degree spin with just 7.4 feet of clearance took some practice, but Moffatt was up for the task. It took him a couple of tries, but he was able to successfully perform the stunt, beating the previous 8.2 feet record achieved in 2014 with the BRZ at Autosport International’s Live Action Arena.
To prepare the Subaru BRZ for the Guinness World Record attempt, the car’s ABS system was disengaged along with its tractions, which allowed Moffatt to more easily spin the vehicle. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration, controllable chassis and lightweight body also benefited Moffatt, making the BRZ the perfect car to set the new record.
On sale now at Van Subaru, the 2016 Subaru BRZ is one of the most fun cars to drive on the road and beloved by Subaru fans everywhere. Complete with a naturally-aspirated 2.0L Boxer engine, the BRZ is a must-have for rear-wheel drive car enthusiasts.
