Helping Hands from Van Subaru help earn FREE clothing and shoes for NICC - Clara S
Van Subaru donated time and helping hands to earn free clothing for NICC. A local non profit foundation that helps serve over 2000 young children and their families, every year with clothes diapers and shoes. The Love Promise Champion was sent a message of help needed and she went to work quickly looking at dates and times to see how she and another Van Subaru employee could help. Clara was able to also have her son come along and help set up. The task was giving up a weekend evening time and offering hours of help setting up clothes, shoes, childrens games and electronics, and baby/nursing mom items. Once that time and help was given to the event, NICC would be able to have 5 of their volunteers come in the very next day of the event and pick out as much clothes, shoes, and children items as they could for 30 minutes for Free. Louise of the Director of NICC gave a public shout out on their facebook page..."Thank you to Van Subaru for supporting the Infant and Children's Clothing Center. This 5 person Crew of Clara Stinson, her son Christian, Louise Thurlow, her daughter Lisa and Kathy Stump, help sort clothing to be ready for the next event." This commitment allowed for The NICC team the next day to go to the event and fill over 20 Full bags of tennis shoes, bathing suits and shorts, and childrens clothing baby sizes through 5T to help fill their shelves at NICC. NICC does monthly clothing give aways to the community near Van Subaru. We are so happy to make a difference and help families and children. At Van Subaru We Can and We Do.
Van Subaru donates childrens items to Hillcrest Thrift Store Benefiting Homeless families - Clara S
Van Subaru recently sorted through a collection of gently used children's items and recognized that many still had plenty of life left. Rather than discarding them, we chose to give these items a second chance by donating them to Hillcrest Thrift Shop, a well-known nonprofit store near Van Subaru. This shop directly supports Hillcrest Platte County, a transitional housing program dedicated to helping homeless families in the Northland area regain stability and independence. Proceeds from the thrift shop go toward providing essential resources, guidance, and support to families working to get back on their feet. Van Subaru is committed to strengthening our local community and promoting sustainability through thoughtful action. By donating children's items—including toys, puzzles, a TV, toy boxes, children's furniture, and a rocking horse—we're not only supporting families in need but also helping reduce waste by ensuring these items continue to bring value and joy. The work done by Hillcrest Platte County is truly inspiring, and we are proud to contribute in a way that supports both our community and the environment.
Van Subaru provides coats and gloves for children through NICC - Clara S
The Northland Infant Clothing Center (NICC), 501(c)(3), a personal outreach of the Church of the Redeemer, has been providing families with diapers, clothing and other personal care items since 2004. We were happy to be selected this year for the Subaru Loves to Help event, Operation Warm, from Van Subaru. We offer free gently used clothing for newborns to 5-year-olds, including underclothing, socks, shoes, coats, diapers, wipes, blankets, books and other infant care items. In 2025, we helped clothe over 2000 children and distributed 2000 packages of diapers. The NICC is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Numerous individuals contribute to its success. The NICC operates on a weekly basis, with one day dedicated to its operations. There is a lot of work to be done behind the scenes to get ready for shoppers including sorting clothing and finding new sources. The NICC collaborates with the local children's hospital, enabling it to provide safe sleep education and distribute new bassinet pack'n plays. Additionally, the NICC partners with Door Dash (Project Dash), facilitating the delivery of clothing and diapers to families in our community who lack transportation to the center. We were honored to be chosen again by Van Subaru in North Kansas City for a coat giveaway event. On the evening of the event, we partnered with our church to provide a complimentary meal for our patrons and their families. The meal consisted of soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and dessert. Subaru employees were instrumental in managing the coat event registration and fittings, allowing us to focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere for our patrons. We were provided with 132 coats. Clara the Love Promise Champion, from Van Subaru, provided about 90 gloves and mittens to pair with the coats. We gave out many during this event and forty additional families received coats during the week after the event. It was very cold in Kansas City during this time so we know that our families were relieved to be able to get warm, new coats and gloves for their children! Thank you so much for doing this!! Van Subaru Reflects on a Year of Giving - Clara S
As we reflect on an Amazing Year, Van Subaru is proud to celebrate a powerful season of giving, service and community connection. Throughout the year, our team remained committed to making a meaningful impact by supporting local organizations, families, and causes that truly matter. Van Subaru kicked off the year in January with a heartfelt partnership with NICC through Operation Warm during the Subaru Loves to Help Event. This impactful event ensured many young children recieve new shoes and socks, properly fitted for comfort and growth. Families gathered at NICC to enjoy a warm meal while children tried on shoes, an experience filled with smiles and gratitude. Inspired by the ongoing needs at NICC, Van Subaru employees stepped up in an incredible way. Team members donated gently used clothing, shoes, toys, daipers, and hair accessories, and more. One employee went above and beyond by providing several pairs of shoes for the tiniest of feet, truly embodying the spirit of giving. Van Subaru celebrated Arbor Day by sharing our love for the planet. Over 100 mature trees were gifted to Subaru customers, helping strengthen communities and protect the environment for generations to come. Along the way, we all learned a little more about cultivating green thumbs! One of our favorite moments of the year was presenting a check from the poceeds of the Share the Love Event to Travis Kelce's Eighty-Seven & Running, Ignition Lab. Spending time with the incredible teens at Ignition Lab was truly inspiring. Through hands-on learning, students are gaining valuable skills in automotive repair, restoration, and electric vehicle conversion, guided by educators from Mind Drive. Seeing education turn into opportunity left a lasting impression on our team. Our hearts were touched as we delivered Love and Hope during the Subaru Loves to Care Event. Van Subaru partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lowe Plains Region to bring comfort to children battling cancer at Children's Mercy Hospital. Together we delivered 80 blankets and 50 patient care kits to children in the Leukemia and Lymphoma unit. The warmth, compassion, and gratitude shared with hospital staff and families made this moment unforgettable. Van Subaru also provided $2500 to the Blood Cancer United Pediatric, Adolesant and Young Adult Fund. Van Subaru Honored educators during the Subaru Loves Learning event at Line Creek Elementary in the Park Hill School District. Teachers' names were drawn by the principal and our team personally delivered school supply kits to classrooms throughout the school. Thanking teachers for their dedication to shaping future generations, was a highlight of the event. Van Subaru made a Pet's Day during Subaru Loves Pets in October. October was filled with wagging tails and joyful moments during Subaru Loves Pets. Van Subaru, partnered with NAWS, receiving grants to provide microchips, vaccinations, and surgeries for pets in need. October 4th provided a free microchipping event for pets in the community. For the entire month of October, donations were collected at Van Subaru and NAWS to stock essential supplies for the Pet Supply Drive. October 22nd, was a fun all costume photo day event, with free microchips and vaccinations available, plus treats, toys, bandanas, and Subaru fetch balls. October 29th, was a designated surgery day, using a $4000 grant through ASPCA, Van Subaru and Subaru contribution, NAWS performed life changing procedures for pets whose owners needed assistance. It was truly a success, and together we made a difference between countles pets and families. During the Subaru Share the Love Event (November 20-January 2), there are 4 National charities that can be selected and a hometown pick. Meals on Wheels recently visited and allowed us to learn more about how we impact them through the Subaru Share the Love Event. The local Meals on Wheels we help is KC Shepherd's Center. Their mission is to empower older adults in Kansas City to lead engaged and independant lives. Van Subaru proudly selected 15 and the Mahomies Foundation as our hometown charity. Supporting the foundations of two outstanding Kansas City Chiefs players refects our admiration for partners, and loyal customers. Van Subaru continued it's commitment to NICC with a Drive for Joy Toy Drive, collectining new donated toys that were distributed to children and their families that NICC serves. NICC served a record of 114 families and 232 children. Toys, books, stuffed animals, clothing, and essential items were provided. Van Subaru employees celebrated a festive Holiday party. Employees enjoyed breakfast, a DJ, an Ugly Holiday Sweater contest, and donated canned goods to a local food pantry, Hope.wrx, located near Van Subaru. Together we have proven that when a community comes together, great things happen. Thank you for allowing Van Subaru to serve, support, and make a lasting impact in our local community. Cheers and More to Come in 2026!
During Subaru Loves to Care Van Subaru Helps a Blood Cancer Pediatric Adolescent and her family - Clara S
The Subaru Loves to Care Event is one of the most touching events that takes place. As the efforts are Huge and Impactful in many ways to help those in their battle with blood cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. Many patients and patients families face situations that are hard and financially impactful. Approximately every three minutes, a person in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. The recovery can be long and often leaves them feeling weak, cold, and isolated. Van Subaru loves to care and we show it by providing warmth, love, and support when and where they're needed most. Van Subaru wanted to help in a financial way as well this year for an urgent need, pediatric adolesant. We added to our event $2500, for the Blood Cancer United urgent need Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund. We were so excited to hear from our recipient sweet Jelien, who is a childhood leukemia survivor. She is a sister, friend, girlscout, model, queen, daughter advocate, cheerleader, dancer, and most importantly warrior. We are feel very humbled to help support her and her family. Jelien and the Blood Cancer United sent us a beautiful plaque of a drawing she had made, thanking us for our donation. Van Subaru believes we all should have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why for the past 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS). Through our united efforts during this decade-long partnership, we will have supported nearly 500,000 cancer patients nationwide by the end of this year. Together, we are proud to be LLS's largest automotive donor.
Van Subaru Collects food pantry canned goods and pantry items for a local food pantry - Clara S
As the Holiday begins to wrap up and the year is coming to an end Van Subaru employees enjoyed a Christmas party with prizes given out by being a ticket winner. To take it to another level Van Subaru offered extra tickets to employees if they brought in canned goods and pantry items for a local food pantry. As Van Subaru employees are donating food items for that extra ticket and extra chance to win, we also know we are helping a family, a single person, or couple in need of food. Everyone Wins when we work Together. As the tickets were passed out the canned foods were stacking up. It was a wonderful time of celebration and giving. All the food items and pantry goods were loaded up and distributed to a local food pantry that operates out of Hill Side Christian Church. They are located a few miles down the road from Van Subaru. They offer a food pantry through a program they run called HOPE.wrx. It is a charitable non-profit organization. They rely on donations of food and monetary giving to support their mission. As we brought over the canned goods and pantry items they let us know families were there picking out items at the food pantry. We were so glad to help especially right at the holiday time of year. Here at Van Subaru, we Believe we Can and we Do. We do good in our community and we make it a mission to spread the Holiday Cheer!

Van Subaru Shares the Love with Warm Meals, Warm Hearts, and Community Supporting Meals on Wheels - Clara S
November kicks off the Subaru Share the Love event. This is a tradition Van Subaru has proudly supported for many years, and one that continues to make a real difference close to home. During the event, every new Subaru purchase becomes more than just a car, it becomes a chance to give back. Customers can choose from Four National Charities and or support a Hometown Charity. For several years now Meals on Wheels has been one of those Four National cherished charity choices, and through it, Van Suabru has been honored to support our local partner and recipient, KC Shepherd's Center. KC Shepherd's Center has a long and inspiring history. In fact they are the organization that first brought Meals on Wheels to Kansas City back in 1972. Since then, they've been delivering more than just meals, they've been delivering comfort, connection, and a friendly smile at the door. Today, KC Shepard's Center serves over 3,000 older adults aged 60 and above, many of whom face food insecurity, isolation, or limited mobility across the greater Kansas City area. Each year, KCSC delivers more than 200,000 hot and frozen meals across 60 plus zip codes, ensuring that homebound and low income seniors receive the nourishment they need to live healthier lives. The need is real and close to home. One in eight older adults in kansas City experiences hunger, a rate higher than the national average. Thanks to programs like Meals on Wheels, and the generocity of community partners, that number is met with compassion and action. But the care doesn't stop with people. In 2013, KCSC noticed something deeply touching, some clients were sharing their own meals with their beloved pets. Refusing to let anyone, human, or fury friend, go hungry, KCSC partnered with local welfare animal organizations, to begin delivering pet food and supplies as well. It's a beautiful reminder that dignity, love, and companionship matter at every age. Recently Van Subaru was delighted to welcome Roxanna Swaney, Associate Executive Director of Strategic Programs, and Allyson Blackwell, Director of Marketing and Community Engagement, who stopped by in person to say thankyou. They brought along specially made cookies and cozy scarf swag, but even more meaningful was the hearttfelt gratitude they shared. Hearing firsthand about the impact of daily meal deliveries, pet support, and even transportation services for older adults to live engaged, independant lives. Knowing that our efforts help bring smiling faces, warm meals, and hope to seniors in our community makes the Share the Love Event, exactly what it's meant to be. Any senior, or older adult can benefit from Meals on Wheels. Eligibility includes being 60 or older, or disabled, and homebound or isolated. At Van Subaru, Sharing the Love isn't just a season, it's a commitment. Together with KC Shepherd's Center, we are proud to help nourish Kansas City, one meal, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.
Van Subaru DRIVES FOR JOY TOY DRIVE - Clara S
Earlier this year, while doing some extra giving and donating alongside NICC, Northland Infant Clothing Center, Van Subaru learned about something truly special: NICC would be preparing an estimated 125 Christmas packages and gifts for the children of the families they serve in our local community. Hearing this, the heart of Van Subaru grew just a little bit Bigger. We knew right away that we wanted to help—and we asked how. After receiving a list of the most popular and in-demand toys, our team jumped into action. In early December, we proudly kicked off the Drive For Joy Toy Drive, and the generosity began pouring in. As toys arrived, we made four deliveries to NICC, ensuring shelves stayed full and spirits stayed bright. NICC surpassed the amount of gifts they initially thought they may need. When supplies began to run low, we even made a special run to help fill the gap—because every child deserves a little Christmas magic. Knowing that the holidays can be brighter for children and parents who simply need a hand up during hard times has been a true joy for all of us at Van Subaru. We are incredibly fortunate to partner with such an outstanding charity as NICC, whose dedication to serving their local community is inspiring. Over 114 families were served and over 232 children receiving Gifts. This season, the joy of Christmas can be seen everywhere—in the smiles of NICC volunteers, in the generosity of our customers, community, and in the caring hearts of Van Subaru employees. It’s a reminder that the greatest gift of all is giving. 🎄✨
🐾 Make a Dog's Day🐾 Van Subaru and NAWS Celebrates Love, Companionship, and Community 🐾 - Clara S
“Make a Dog’s Day” is such a heartwarming tradition, a day to celebrate the companions who fill our lives with warmth, loyalty, and unconditional love. Subaru honors pets everywhere with this special day, and this year, we wanted to take that spirit even further. On October 22nd, Van Subaru proudly partnered with NAWS, the Northland Animal Welfare Society to host Make a Dog’s Day at the NAWS facility. Together, we created a joyful, energetic, and unforgettable event dedicated to pets of all kinds. The day was packed with smiles, wagging tails, and fall fun, and many volunteers. Pet owners brought their furry friends to be dressed in festive fall costumes and posed for adorable photos with their companions. Every pet went home with treats, snacks, cat toys, Subaru bandanas, and bright orange Subaru catch balls, provided by Van Subaru and NAWS. Pet parents received photos, and for those who needed it, NAWS offered on-site vaccinations and microchipping, ensuring pets received important care and attention right then and there. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, a warm fall day surrounded by charming décor, creative costumes, and a community full of love for animals. Van Subaru employees even shared photos of their own beloved pets, celebrating from near and far. Some “grand-furbabies” of one of our employees, were spoiled all the way in California, with Subaru catnips, an orange Subaru fetch ball, and Subaru bandanas! Together, Van Subaru and NAWS created a truly memorable Make a Pet’s Day — a celebration of compassion, joy, and the incredible bond we share with our pets. Here’s to many more days filled with furry friends, happy hearts, and community spirit! 🐶🐱❤️
