Subaru has a strong reputation for safety. In fact, every single one of its vehicle models has been named either a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Recently, the new 2015 Subaru Legacy claimed a prestigious TSP+ title from the IIHS and we wanted to share video of one of its crash tests with you! After flying at a wall at top speed, the car's front end may look like a lot of crushed metal and broken parts, but this test revealed something very important: Even in an accident this bad, Legacy offers optimal protection.
The 2015 Legacy not only won a TSP+ title, it received the highest scores possible in all five of the IIHS' crash tests, which include small overlap, front moderate overlap, rear impact, side impact and roof crush categories. And, for those of you who are curious, the Plus designation can only be earned by vehicle models with a front collision-avoidance system that earns a passing grade from IIHS experts. In the case of Legacy, Subaru's advanced EyeSight system earned the best possible rating of "Superior." Along with Legacy, the all-new redesigned 2015 Outback was also recently named a Top Safety Pick+.
