When the newly updated STARLINK connectivity system debuts on the 2016 Forester later this year, it’ll offer several exciting updates! The latest system was recently debuted at the New York International Auto Show and we’re excited to share details about its innovative changes.

Expect connectivity and security - enhanced. STARLINK displays text and can also read them allowed, so you never have to pick up your phone while driving. The system also offers access to apps like Pandora and Aha, and gives up-to-the-minute news, stocks and sports stats upon request.

New auto collision notification ensures that emergency services are sent to your location if you’re unresponsive after airbags are deployed. When STARLINK detects that the airbags have been released, it alerts an advisor who will ask if you’re okay. If no response is given emergency services are contacted immediately and sent to your location.

New SOS Emergency Assistant is also offered for non-accident related crises, like medical emergencies for example. All you have to do is hit the SOS button to connect with a STARLINK advisor when you need help. The feature works anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, drivers can connect to enhanced roadside assistance with the simple click of an overhead button. Using the GPS system, STARLINK can determine your exact location and send roadside service to the correct location.

Along with these things, the new system will include built-in AT&T 4G LTE, stolen vehicle recovery services and smartphone-controlled remote functions, so you’ll be able to lock/unlock vehicle doors, remotely engage the lights and horn, and even see your vehicle on a map with the system’s remote vehicle locator!

Last but not least, STARLINK automatically runs diagnostics and will send you warning emails if it detects that anything is wrong with one of your vehicle’s critical systems.
