Recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its cutting-edge safety features, the 2025 Forester continues Subaru’s legacy of prioritizing safety.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy as the IIHS updated its vehicle safety requirements in 2024, introducing stricter standards for side-impact protection, moderate front overlap tests, and pedestrian crash avoidance. The 2025 Forester received a "good" rating in the newly added pedestrian crash prevention test and met all other safety requirements. Ultimately, it achieved the highest “Top Safety Pick+” designation for its advanced crash prevention and accident mitigation technologies. This award builds on the Forester's impressive track record, as it has won an IIHS Top Safety Award 18 times since 2007—more than any other small SUV.

IIHS Safety Test Ratings
The IIHS evaluates vehicles based on stringent criteria to determine their safety performance. To qualify for an IIHS safety award, vehicles must achieve a "Good" rating in side crash tests and moderate front overlap tests. Additionally, they must earn at least an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating in pedestrian crash avoidance tests. All trim levels must feature headlights rated as "Acceptable" or "Good," and the vehicle must perform well in moderate front-end crash tests.
