Image: Subaru Driver Pastrana Takes Class Win, Podium at Southern Ohio Rally

Subaru has a long-standing reputation for building reliable cars, trucks, and other vehicles. It’s no wonder the brand delivered a strong performance at the Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR) held in June. Travis Pastrana took home a class win and placed third overall, boosting his standing in the American Rally Association (ARA) championship race.

Which Class Did Pastrana Win?

Pastrana competed in the Limited Four-Wheel Drive (L4WD) category, which featured last year’s champion, Brandon Semenuk. Semenuk had won this event previously, fending off a determined effort from Pastrana. This year, however, Pastrana claimed victory, partly due to an unusually off day for Semenuk. Despite the setback, Semenuk later recovered to remain competitive in the ARA standings.

Tough Rally Conditions

Heavy rain added another layer of difficulty to the event. The course became slick and muddy, making vehicle control much harder than usual. At one point, Semenuk veered off the track and had to exit the race temporarily, effectively ending his shot at repeating as SOFR champion.

Mechanical Challenges for Pastrana

While Pastrana emerged victorious, his journey wasn’t without issues. The WRX ARA25L he drove, along with his co-driver, struggled with the hot and humid weather. Though the vehicle experienced minor mechanical hiccups, Pastrana praised its overall performance and looked forward to future events.
