Volvo Engine Not Working

If your car isn't starting, it's time to do some detective work. Any number of problems can interfere with your car's performance and even prevent it from turning on. The problem might be as simple as letting the car run out of fuel by accident, or you could be facing a broken component that needs to be repaired or replaced. Based on the car's symptoms, you might even be able to tell what the problem is yourself, which in turn determines whether or not you need to visit our service center for repairs.

Bad Starter

Modern vehicles have an electric motor that helps start the car. The starter's location varies depending on your car. If your vehicle has a traditional key system, the starter normally turns on when you put the key in the ignition. Cars with a key fob start system also have a computer chip that instructs the vehicle to start. Either way, the starter should produce an electric spark to start the engine. If the starter breaks, the engine won't get the spark that it needs to start working. The starter is fairly simple to replace.

Dead Battery

A frequent cause of a car not starting is a problem with the battery. Luckily, battery problems can be easy to detect before the battery dies completely in many cases. If the battery has some life left but is weakening, your car may be slow to start when you turn the car on. The lights might also not be as bright as normal. You can do a few tests to find out if a dead or dying battery is the problem. You can test the battery's power at home or try jump-starting the car.

Faulty Ignition

A bad ignition can also prevent a car from starting. The ignition normally sends power from the battery to the engine in order to get the engine running. The ignition can break due to a few different reasons. Regardless of the cause, an ignition switch will have to be replaced so that your car can start running normally again.

Dirty Fuel Filter

Your car's engine has an important ancillary part called the fuel filter. The fuel filter acts as a shield for the engine by filtering out contaminants and debris before they reach the engine and fuel lines. The fuel filter should be cleaned about every 20,000 miles or so for optimal engine health.

Empty Gas Tank

A common but simple explanation for your car not starting up is an empty fuel tank. If the car runs out of gas, you'll need to have a tow to the gas station or get a refill through roadside assistance.
