What's New For the 2020 Subaru BRZ?

A small coupe explicitly designed for driving enjoyment, the Subaru BRZ is an affordable way to obtain a sporty transport that focuses on low-end engine power handling and steering. It's not as flashy as some of the European coupes, and it isn't luxuriously appointed on the inside. However, its affordability and smart appearance make it a perfect entry-level performance car. For 2020, the Premium version of the base trim has been discontinued, and the new tS trim offers a few styling and performance upgrades.

2020 Subaru BRZ has Varied Trim Levels & Countless Features

The 2020 BRZ is available in two trims, the Limited and the tS. The Limited trim comes with sporty front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button start and keyless ignition, LED foglights, and an aluminum spoiler mounted on the trunk. Tech features include a lovely 8-inch screen display and an eight-speaker stereo system. If the manual transmission is chosen, the buyer can upgrade via the Performance package that adds on dark gray painted wheels, Sachs shock absorbers, and Brembo brakes.

The uplevel tS trim is more performance-oriented, riding on 18-inch wheels and performance tires. The tS also gets upgrades to the chassis, black-painted trim regardless of exterior color choice, red accent stripes, and unique exterior badging. Both trims come with huge, quite comfortable sport seats. Despite its small size, the BRZ has large windows that provide plenty of visibility in all directions. Even with its low stance, this model is straightforward to climb into and out of. Unlike some rival models, the base Limited trim comes with smartphone app integration, voice controls, and navigation.

What's Under the Hood of the 2020 BRZ?

2020 Subaru BRZThere's only one engine available, but it's a spunky 2.0L flat-four that produces a total of 205 horsepower with manual transmission and 200 horsepower with the automatic. Both transmissions are available on each of the two trims. The BRZ promises an exciting, engaging driver experience with its superior handling and steering. The car has a good feel when taking turns, and there's an astonishing lack of body roll.

Acceleration is mediocre because of the lack of engine punch, but at cruising speeds, the overall handling is akin to rival models from Mazda, Hyundai, and even Mercedes-Benz. On winding roads, the steering response is excellent, and on the city arterials, the BRZ takes sharp turn lanes with ease. Braking is also superb, and the BRZ fits easily into the smallest of parking spaces.

2020 Subaru BRZ Safety Technologies

2020 Subaru BRZBoth 2020 BRZ trims come with antilock brakes, self-leveling headlights, daytime running lights, stability and traction control, child seat anchors, auto delay off headlamps, tire pressure monitoring, dual front side-mounted airbags, and front and rear head airbags. Emergency braking assist is also standard. The brake assist automatically applies full braking force when the sensor system detects a panic stop by the driver. The IIHS awarded the 2020 BRZ a rating of "Good" for side impact protection and roof strength.

This is a fun-to-drive compact sports coupe, and it performs well as an everyday commuter. Test drive it today at Van Subaru.
