Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Partnership
Subaru is known around the world for building vehicles that are sporty, dependable, affordable, and adventurous. But the brand’s impact goes beyond the road. Subaru has long been committed to making a difference in the fight against cancer. For 10 years, Subaru has teamed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help advance cancer research, support patients and families, and bring hope to those affected by the disease.
This important partnership is part of Subaru’s “Subaru Loves to Care” initiative. Through this effort, the automaker has helped nearly 500,000 blood cancer patients throughout the United States. Subaru is the leading automotive donor to LLS, making it a vital part of the organization’s work. A key focus of the collaboration is helping children with blood cancer and assisting their families. Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc., shared that the company’s goal has always been to bring “warmth, love, and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments.” Subaru does this by delivering care kits—including blankets and handwritten notes—to young cancer patients in hospitals across the country. Over 600 Subaru retailers nationwide help distribute these kits, and Subaru also provides financial aid to families for non-medical costs like food and transportation.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society values this 10-year partnership just as much. E. Anders Kolb, M.D., President and CEO of LLS, expressed that these thoughtful gifts offer real comfort and encouragement to patients during treatment, especially children. Over the past decade, Subaru and LLS have brought hope and support to many lives, showing patients they don’t have to face cancer alone.
