Stretching across more than 1,500 miles of unforgiving desert, the Rebelle Rally serves as the ultimate proving ground for competitors and vehicles alike. This year, Subaru fielded Team 200 in a purpose-built Subaru Forester Hybrid. Behind the wheel of the 2025 Forester Hybrid, the crew drove to a triumphant first-place finish, securing another notable milestone for the automaker.
What is the Rebelle Rally?
The Rebelle Rally is an off-road competition unlike any other. Standing as the longest off-road endurance event in the United States, it is designed exclusively for female competitors. Scheduled for October 2026, the course winds through challenging desert environments across Nevada and California. Instead of raw speed, the rally prioritizes vehicle capability and strategic navigation, requiring participants to find checkpoints relying solely on paper maps, compass plotting, and precision driving. Teams spend an arduous 10 to 12 hours on the trail each day, contending with difficult topography and route-finding obstacles. The competition also incorporates a demanding marathon stage—an overnight leg where teams must camp in the desert rather than returning to base camp.
About Subaru’s Team 200
Subaru is once again partnering with the winning pair that earned top honors in the X-Cross category during the previous year's event. Team 200 features Carey Lando and Andrea Shaffer, returning for the 2026 rally in a custom-wrapped Forester Hybrid tailored to handle severe desert terrain. With back-to-back victories in the 2024 and 2025 competitions, the pair enters the contest with considerable momentum. Outside of the Rebelle Rally, Lando and Shaffer have also teamed up in the Trinite Road Rally. In addition to their rally experience, the duo credits their success to strong teamwork, good sportsmanship, and the dependable performance of their vehicle.
About the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid
Team 200 once again selected the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid as its competition vehicle for the Rebelle Rally. Continuing the setup from prior events, the crossover received dedicated modifications to endure the punishing desert terrain. Key upgrades on this competition-ready Forester Hybrid include a three-inch suspension lift, 30-inch Milestar Patagonia Pro tires, heavy-duty underbody protection, dedicated recovery gear, auxiliary off-road lights, and custom exterior graphics.
