What's New for the 2018 Subaru Forester?

The 2018 Subaru Forester has been a large part of the car maker's success for a number of years, and this year further establishes their commitment to this model. The 2018 version has some tweaks that are worth noting. For this year's model year, Subaru has introduced that the Touring models will come standard with the Eyesight Safety Package. Automatic high beam headlights and automatic reverse braking come with that package. There is also an all-new Black Edition Package available on the Premium model.

Trims & Features

For 2018, the Subaru Forester has eight different models available, enough to please any type of driver. Each model comes with everything you have come to love about the Forester including a spacious cabin that seats five in comfort, quick acceleration, outward visibility, and large amounts of cargo space. The base 2.5i comes with in 2 variations: either a six-speed transmission or the more fuel-efficient automatic transmission. The Premium package affords the buyer with a multitude of upgrades to include a power moonroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, X-Mode off-road mode, automatic climate controls, 10-way power driver's seat, rear spoiler, reclining rear seats, a 4.3-inch color display, and a 7.0-inch Starlink system. The Limited model is a slight upgrade from the Premium model, adding a rear power liftgate, leather seating, automatic headlights, an upgraded driver's side display and a rear cargo cover. The 2.0XT Premium comes with a turbocharged 2.0 Liter engine that generates 250 horsepower via its turbocharged four-cylinder. This is a whole lot of power for a four-cylinder! It comes with larger disc brakes, a tighter suspension, steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.Finally, the 2.0XT Touring comes with the more robust 2.0 Liter engine and also adds the same features as the 2.5i Touring model.


2018 Subaru Forester InteriorThe 2.5L four-cylinder engine generates a healthy 170 horsepower and gets an attractive EPA estimated 22 city/28 hwy mpg* with the manual transmission. If you opt for the automatic transmission, the fuel economy rises to a best in class EPA-estimated 26 city/32 hwy mpg. The 2.0XT sports an optional 2.0 Liter turbocharged four-cylinder detailed above, with an EPA-estimated 23 city/27 highway mpg*.


2018 Subaru ForesterThe Forester has long set the standard for safety in the crossover class and it does not disappoint in 2018. Each Forester comes equipped with a robust rearview camera. The addition of the Eyesight Safety Package makes it perform as the best in class for in safety tests. Each Forester comes standard with adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, emergency automatic braking system and lane keep assist. Available safety options include high beam assist, blind-spot monitoring, reverse automatic braking, and rear cross traffic alert.
